Is ZinClear®XP Non-Nano?

Geoff Acton
Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, ZinClear® is Non-Nano.

See Non-Nano statement (STA901.94) for the official statement for Europe, Non-Nano statement (STA901.105) for the official statement for Australia and New Zealand and Non-Nano Statement (STA901.74) for the official statement for the US.

The Zinc Oxide particles within Antaria's ZinClear® product lines have been analysed using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Laser Light Scattering. SEM analysis shows the Zinc Oxide exists in aggregates which form highly porous particles in the micrometer range. When viewed under high magnification, it is clear to see the high surface area associated with the product is due to nanoscale surface features, which can result in some concern and confusion.

Therefore, Antaria also conducts laser light scattering analysis to determine Number/Volume Distribution for all the ZinClear® products. Results of this analysis can be found in the particle size distribution statement (STA901.52), and clearly show that all ZinClear® products consist of free particles of greater than 100 nm.
